About This Role
Hives for Heroes is seeking dedicated and responsible Volunteer Community Leaders to join our moderation team for BeeXchange, our dynamic platform connecting veterans, supporters, and community members. As a moderator, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a safe, respectful, and productive environment within our state-specific discussion boards.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting the veteran community and have the integrity to uphold community standards while encouraging open dialogue.
Key Responsibilities
As a State Board Moderator, your primary duties will include:
Content Moderation: Reviewing posts, comments, and threads on assigned state boards to ensure they align with community guidelines and safety policies.
Conflict Resolution: De-escalating heated discussions and mediating minor disputes between community members with fairness and empathy.
Community Engagement: Welcoming new members, encouraging positive participation, and highlighting valuable contributions.
Reporting: Identifying and flagging severe policy violations or safety concerns to the core Hives for Heroes administration team.
Maintenance: Ensuring state boards remain organized, relevant, and free from spam or off-topic content.
Time Commitment & Flexibility
Hours: Approximately 5 hours per week.
Flexibility: This is a remote, asynchronous role. You can log in and perform moderation tasks at times that fit your schedule, provided the boards are monitored regularly.
Hour Tracking: If you require documented volunteer hours for school, court requirements, or organizational reporting, we are happy to track and certify your service hours upon request.
Who We Are Looking For
Integrity & Discretion: Ability to handle sensitive community interactions with confidentiality and professionalism.
Communication Skills: Strong written communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully.
Veteran Community Knowledge: Familiarity with the challenges and culture of the veteran community is highly preferred (veterans, family members, and allies are encouraged to apply).
Tech Savviness: Comfortable navigating web platforms and learning basic moderation tools.
Reliability: Consistent availability to meet the weekly hour requirement.
